Houses of Parliament Presentation

Did you know that Swindon Sands is one of about 90 local groups nationwide? The focus of the national Sands, as well as supporting groups and parents, is to raise political and medical support.

On 18th January 2012 representatives of all the local groups were invited to the Houses of Parliament with their local MPs for a special presentation. Sands wanted to raise awareness with the MPs by sharing personal stories, facts and objectives of the coming year. There are six key objectives that Sands is focusing on which can be found at www.uk-sands.org

Cathy & Keith from our committee represented our group, and also wanted to make sure our local Swindon South MP, Robert Buckland, was fully aware of the Swindon Sands group and the work achieved. They discussed with Robert the memorial garden, the work with GWH and the monthly support meetings. Robert was impressed and pledged to help the group anyway he can. He even joined our Facebook group so he can keep up to date with the group.
