With everything quiet on the garden front until the statue and benches are ready we decided to hold a planting day, and give all the group members a chance to place a memorial plant in the large shrub border at the back of the garden. Our hope is that over time this border will grow into a lush and beautiful background for the garden; we wanted to make sure that all the garden's visitors had a chance to help create a piece of the garden.
We've made a good start, and with the first plants in the border looks a lot less bare, but there is still plenty of space for other parents and families to put in something special to remember their little ones.
If you are planning on planting something please remember that there are deer, squirrels and rabbits in the garden, and they do find some plants exceptionally tasty - so check what will be okay before planting!
