Two steps back, three steps forward

Unfortunately our Escalona hedges that we planted at the end of last year did not survive the winter, so we took the decision to get bigger stronger Escalona plants and do a bit of replanting!

It was a bit sad to have to take out all the old plants, but the new ones look a lot stronger, are a fair bit bigger (so we won't have to wait so long for them to grow into a proper hedge), and some of them were even in flower - which gave us all a glimpse of how beautiful they would look when they are finally mature.

Back in March we also did a fair bit of hard landscaping, and most of that is looking great and ready for the finishing layers (which we plan to add in the Autumn), but unfortunately one of the bench bases was a bit to high (we need them low so that the pebbles can cover them), so we had to ask Mike from Frome Valley Landscaping to lend us a hand (and a power saw!). Now all four bench bases are ready to go. Not to mention the statue in the centre.

It will probably be a quiet few months, but we're hoping that the statue will be ready late Summer, early Autumn, and once we know those dates we can plan the final push!
