This Summer we had some amazing feats of bravery and endurance from Swindon Sands members who were raising money in memory of their little ones.
James Radford’s family and friends have raised £400 for Sands with him completing the UK Ironman Triathlon in July in memory of his Son Harvey,. The triathlon is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26 mile run in Bolton (not the Hawaii version). It took James 12 hours 56 minutes and lots of sugar boosts to get round. This is to be added to the £2200 raised in 2010 with James running the Marathon Des Sables in the Sahara desert.
Hollie Windslow fell to Earth on August 11th, her baby son Shaylan's first birthday, with a very brave parachute jump that raised over £900 in his memory. Hollie wanted to mark this very important milestone, and this was certainly an amazing way to do it.
Graham Mansell found that running was a way that he could feel closer to his son Toby, and this year entered into the London Marathan in his memory. It was the first time that Graham had run a full marathon, but he managed to get round in 6 hours and 37 minutes, raising over £2270 for Swindon Sands.
We want to thank James, Hollie, Graham and all the other members that have held sponsored activities and events this Summer to raise money for the group. Your little ones must be very proud of you all!
